The Canopy Lidar Initiative (CLI) was established to undertake instrument design and algorithm development for future applications of advanced canopy Lidar technologies.
Lidar instruments can provide information critical to efficient forest measurement and monitoring. This information can also be used in related applications such as ecological assessment and growth modelling. The CLI includes staff from CSIRO's Earth Observation Centre (EOC) and the division of Forestry and Forest Products (FFP), with the project being partly funded by the Forest and Wood Products Research and Development Corporation (FWPRDC).
